I owned a Triumph Stag many years ago........I hovered around the Stag Owners Club for a while before I eventually joined. The first meeting I attended was at Tatton Park where they were handing out prizes for this, that and the other.
One car took my eye as it had been the subject of a really nice rebuild.......by the Owner not a Specialist Garage. He'd done a really nice job of it and managed to keep it as original as he could make it, but it got marks deducted as he'd applied Underseal.

Considering the time and effort he'd spent on it, and his foresight to keep it protected for far longer that the Triumph Factory ever did, it just struck me that the Judges suffered from 'Elbow and arse disease' and that was the last time I went to any Stag Owners Club meetings.

Lovely job Dave...as always.

Looking forward to seeing you work your magic on the NC30..........often drooled over them and the CB400R's that Boxhill Motors and BAT Cycles imported from Japan by the dozen back in the day. Too small for my personal liking, but the excellence of the Honda Engineers (along with the other Jap tiddlers race reps) always filled me with admiration.........after growing up with Brit bikes, these multi cylinder rockets really were things of beauty.

I know this Forum is a Democratic one............but I'd be very happy to vote that this bloke is removed from it. At the ripe old age of 75, I have better things to do with my precious remaining time than wade through this crap.

Member 4 Sales / 2008 CB1300S For Sale near Blackpool
« on: September 17, 2025, 03:41:43 PM »
Excellent condition 2008 CB1300S, two mature owners bike in black with gold wheels. I'm asking £3750 which is a fair price as it's been well looked after with full Dealer Service History and MOT to November. It has some useful extras....comfort seat, main stand, rear hugger, Baglux tank cover (the tank is unmarked), R & G engine protectors. Good tyres and newish Drive Chain and Sprockets. The only reason it's for sale is because I have a hernia, so unfortunately I won't be riding it again for some time ! 18,500 miles in 17 years so that's just over 1100 miles each year. I might take a P/X or Swap for a lighter modern bike around 600cc (a CB600FA from 2007 onwards would be ideal), so just ask me if that kind of deal suits you. This is the third CB1300 I have owned and they are a brilliant big tourer, solid, reliable and comfortable.

Misc / Open / Interesting post from Crich Tramway
« on: July 24, 2025, 09:40:14 AM »
This popped up on my PC today from Crich Tramway.
Nice to see how 'Enthusiasts' are held in the highest esteem by other Enthusiasts - whether they ride bikes or trams.

QUOTE: A Fitting Farewell for Geoffrey Claydon 🚋
This morning, Crich Tramway Village came together to honour the remarkable life and legacy of Geoffrey Claydon CB LLB M.Inst TA CMILT with a very special final journey.
In a deeply moving tribute, Geoffrey was carried for his ‘last ride’ through the museum from Town End, through Wakebridge then up to Glory Mine on Blackpool 166 followed by Glasgow 22 and Chesterfield 7. Glasgow 812 stood quietly at Town End, while Geoffrey’s favourite trams lined the workshop stretch of the line – a subtle but powerful reflection of a lifetime spent in passionate service to the Tramway Museum Society and the wider heritage railway movement.
Today’s procession was a rare and deeply personal honour, made possible because of Geoffrey’s immeasurable contributions to our museum, and to the very foundations of heritage transport in the UK.
His impact can be seen in every tram that runs at Crich and across the country. His wisdom shaped the laws that protect and empower our sector. And his presence here, over decades of leadership, will never be forgotten.
Thank you, Geoffrey. 💛

I have bought a few Batteries (car and bike) from Tayna over the years.

Their prices are as good as any other Battery suppliers and their service is excellent, so happy to recommend.

I could offer my congratulations on that splendid trick Dave, but you'd think I was just 'bettering you up' ! LOL.

You learn something new every day though.

Anorak's Corner / Re: Metal Covered Plug Caps
« on: May 05, 2024, 11:13:48 AM »
When I lived in Toronto I bought a new Suzuki GT500 in 1977 which had galvanised metal shrouds on the spark plugs. It was a great bike but it suffered an intermittent misfire. The Suzuki Dealer had it back a couple of times to try and cure it, but he said 'all was well'. Eventually I told the Dealer that if it didn't get sorted out I'd be taking legal action to get my money back. After a couple of days, the Dealer told me that he'd tried everything but couldn't find the problem and so he left the bike running in the garage..........and as it was in a dark corner he then noticed the arcing from the plug shrouds to the cylinder head......Eureka ! The shrouds were cut off !

The bike ran like a dream after that and I rode it across Canada and the USA covering 6,000 miles in three weeks - and it never missed a beat.

No doubt you'll sort out your OEM shrouds Ash.......but at least you'll know where the fault lies if you do suffer a misfire.

Marvellous idea to make that wriggly tin chute. 10/10.

I remember watching the Concrete being pumped up to make all the six floors on the new building next to ours in Docklands in the 90's...twas like a military operation with Cement Mixers coming and going all day.......then later seeing the huge Glass windows being manoeuvred into place using small cranes inside the building with suckers on the 4 arms......again it went like clockwork......but the best was a bloke cutting through massive foam blocks at an angle to make the ramps which concrete was then poured onto to finish the pedestrian steps down to 'The Six Public Clocks'.

Thinking back to those days also reminded me that during the construction that building, a fine young man lost his life when he fell 40 feet after he stepped on a flimsy sheet of plywood covering an open shaft. His young Widow later made a heartfelt video about the tragedy, and we showed it to many of our London Underground Employees and our Contractors. We had many tearful sessions as the enormity of a simple f*ck up unravelled to take a young man's life hit home. I'll make no apologies for this as it's a story worth telling again.....because it was a death that should never have happened, and to show that the courage and fortitude of his Wife, Jennifer Deeney is something that's a shining example to us all.   https://www.lattitudesafety.co.uk/programmes/it-will-never-happen-to-me/

Tip. Never state that the part you are buying/ sending is a Fuel/ Petrol Tank !

Just note it as 'Motorcycle Parts'.....I have sold/ sent a few Tanks over the years and never had any problem when using that description - which is the truth anyway.

Of course the Tanks I have sold/ shipped have not held any Petrol for years and have been well 'aired' so they are basically just lumps of steel plate so there is no risk.

My sincere condolences to all your Family Ted.

We never know what life is going to throw at us....sometimes it's brilliant, and we count ourselves amongst the luckiest people in the world, and other times we think we have been handed the real shitty end of the stick, and we wonder 'Why us' ?

I have been on both ends of that stick.....but all I can say is that life has a funny way of panning out and whatever we have to face, we just get on with our lives and live and learn.

I hope you and your Family can find peace and comfort in what's happened.........it's all for a reason......but we often don't realise what the reason is for some years to come.

No doubt it will all become clear sometime for you. God Bless.
