Out & About / Re: OUT AND ABOUT 2025« on: May 14, 2025, 07:15:50 PM »Not sure how adding dyed water to the petrol in the Breeze Blocked laboratory is a reliable scientific basis to judge Shell E5 Ethanol content or how cleanly it burns. It's a very simple test and quite accurate that anyone can do and the prices reflect when the vid was made. 3
Out & About / Re: OUT AND ABOUT 2025« on: May 14, 2025, 12:57:30 PM »My understanding is that Shell SUL is marked E5 to comply with legislation i.e. no more than 5% Ethanol, there is a lot on the internet to the effect that it contains no Ethanol at all it is also a higher cotane rating of 99RON. The Shell website does not even mention that VPower contains Ethanol. Do a simple google search. Does UK Shell V Power contain ethanol. Or even do your own test. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWTknCPX6yo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkTrdE9JAhA 4

Out & About / Re: OUT AND ABOUT 2025« on: May 13, 2025, 11:22:08 PM »UK Shell V Power does contain ethanol Shell Regular Unleaded contains up to 10% ethanol following the governments E10 introduction in 2021, whilst Shell V-Power Unleaded contains no more than 5%. This is in accordance with current UK specification requirements.5 May 2025 6
CB500/550 / Re: CB550 refurb« on: December 16, 2024, 11:24:35 PM »Maybe indeed Moorey! There’s lots of different types of media yet to try before I declare it not suitable for the type of work I had in mind for it. I’m prepared to persevere a bit. They are commonly used in the restoration of Pinball machine metal parts as well and parts are usually in them for 3 or 4 days. 7

Apply Studlock 270 just to the insert when you put it in it stops that happening.

New Member Introductions / Re: Hello from Chesterfield« on: June 19, 2024, 10:23:11 AM »Welcome to the forum. The 750A was an attempt by Honda to lure American males to try 2 wheels, hence the auto box and a much softer engine.. If it still has the original exhaust I think they are the same as the 750F1 and very difficult to find so don't just swap it out thinking it's not worth anything. 11
Misc / Open / Re: Electric vehicle.« on: May 28, 2024, 11:36:38 AM »Interesting comments guys and agree with all said. A tv programme came on the night before I went away to pick up vehicle and it was a feature regarding cost comparisons from a survey/tests carried out by the RAC. Results were an EV charged from home on average was around 7p per mile, a petrol/diesel was 17p per mile and an EV charged with fast/rapid public chargers 22p per mile. I agree it’s early days still with alternative fuel options and not convinced it’s going to be electric but we may not be around when the new fuel becomes the norm, so for the moment I’m happy to give the electric a go. We’ve got the diesel burner as well in the form of a Trafic crew van and that is what we take on the long runs off the island because we need the carrying capacity. For instance today we have done about 6 miles in the car and that will be similar tomorrow. Alas don’t panick guys I haven’t lost enough marbles to go out and buy an e motorcycle! 😂😂😂 In your situation it makes perfect sense to get one and I would think it should do at least 10 to 15 years should you choose to keep lt. 12

Even Tesla are making a Hydrogen fuel car, or as Elon used to call them not long ago Hydrogen fool cells. Battery only EVs will end up the Betamax of the car world. IMHO. 13

If its running OK I wouldn't worry about it but if you are drain the tank and add it back a bit at a time over fill ups diluting even further if you don't want to dump a tank of fuel

Misc / Open / Re: long covid« on: May 01, 2024, 11:24:16 AM »maybe this isnt the place to post this but it might be of use to someone. i was diagnosed with long covid recently by my GP after chest xrays, cardio ecg, 24hr ecg and a number of asthma tests but nothing untoward showed up. but they did acknowledge that my breathing capacity was 50% what it should be. so i just accepted that i was stuck with it. anyway, i mentioned it to a guy a few weeks ago who is very into alternative medicine and a vegan. so i was naturally sceptical! apparently, his friend had long covid and after some research, started taking a low dose nicotene patch. it seems that he improved drastically and is now much better. i didnt bother following it up as it seemed a bit fanciful, but my wife suggested i give it a go. so i got a pack of step 3 7mg patches and stuck them on. only four days in, and i realised this morning that my breathing is almost normal! i'm going to carry on for two weeks and then stop. however, if you try them and you drop dead, dont blame me. but if youre getting on a bit like me and struggling with it, give it a go. there is anecdotal evidence on google but nothing science based as yet, but i assume some research is going on. although i'm still unable to lift my 750-4 engine onto the workbench! but maybe i'm just old... I do have it and struggle at times with my lungs, I will be interested in how it works out for you over a period of time. We are coming into spring and summer though which does make a big difference for me. |
