The Honda CB1300 uses a very similar bolt. Doesn't have a slot though, has an allen key fitting. They are used to hold the side panels on. Just an idea, I doubt you'd be interested as it's not original but it would be a lot easier.
Oddjob, I have just had a look at these - as you say they are close - thanks for the link. For this build - it is the slotted head that I am after, I have had a few sample parts in that are close however they just don't quite fit for what I am after, Cheers, CR21

Thanks James - this explains why it it taking so long..! Talking of details: A good friend of mine passed on some photographs and 3D drawings of the original fairing fasteners, which will be used for the top three on the bracket above: These will be CNC machined soon alongside some other parts - for my build Thanks, CR21

Odd job, Allen does some brilliant work, that approach would certainly be an easier route however I want this to be super tidy which I don’t feel I could achieve that way.
Cheers,

Hi Dave, This part will be machined from aluminium most likely. No real need to cast this part it as the post machining set-up is quite complex and the quantities are well - very low! I have had some DMLS parts produced before, however the same post machining challenges come into play (and sometimes poposity!). I will keep the thread updated as things progress. Ted - I wish, I think it may have been a little quicker if AI was involved and hopefully with a few more mistakes! Cheers, CR21

Quick update - another mini project within this project! I was originally planning on using a good quality GL1000 master cylinder for my project, however... The original CR750 master cylinder was a different part than any street models, it had an angled reservoir and a bigger bore/output to handle the twin disk set-up. It is hard to see in the ACU homologation files, and from this image of the late Tommy Robb: I managed to borrow a genuine CR750 master cylinder for a few days (magnesium), 3D scanned this and have started the process of reverse engineering it. The cap is slightly different as well! I will likely use genuine GL1000 valving within the custom body, so that it can be rebuilt if needed in the future. 3D Scan results: The CAD progress so far: Cheers, CR21

Hello,
Thanks for the replies and suggestions - I will speak to Hondaman and Nurse Julie.
Yes this is for my CR750 build, which has an oil cooler beneath the yokes - CB750 style line is what I am after, but the lines will be a custom length to suit.
For the avoidance of doubt, I am after a newly manufactured hose only, which I will have crimped onto the original fittings.
Thanks, CR21

Hello all,
Does anybody know of a supplier of the original fabric braided SOHC oil hose/line?
I would like to get this detail correct for my CR750 build - aiming to restore/re-use original hardware and have the ends crimped on by a hydraulic supplier.
Thanks, CR21

The polisher is a good friend of mine - has done a few parts for my Yamahas - beautiful work! Unfortunately the rear needs to be built back up with a new rim as the builder marked it really badly during assembly! The company have agreed to put this right. A little bit of a shame, but looking forward to having it back after all of this work/time

Lovely job as always and it really is coming along nicely. Who do you use for plating, excellent quality. I used Ashford Platers who are actually located in Crayford S E London!
Hi Dave, these parts were polished by a good friend of mine, aside from a couple of fasteners there is not any chrome on this bike. Cheers CR21

Managed to borrow an original CR750 chinpad, 3D scanned it, reverse engineered it in CAD and will cast some in a low shore hardness polyurethane under a vacuum. The depression in my tank wont fit the original pad so I will plan to modify this to suit. Also - collecting the wheels on Tuesday Had the rear brake control arms polished as per the originals: Cheers, CR21

A small update! Hubs painted, and off being built. It was quite hard to find a painter who understood how I wanted them doing, as key areas needed masking, and other areas I wanted no prep/minimal primer on to show the cast finish as per the originals. On the hub project I could not resist having the shoes cast (as the originals) so went down this rabbithole as well. I am currently having the controls arms polished as per the originals. I also had the sprocket anodised in clear which has finished it nicely. The original rims had text stamped into the flange so I replicated the text and had it etched onto the rims: These are due to be drilled, laced up, trued and with fresh rubber on in the next week or so. 3D printed fairing rubbers in TPU. These will be bonded on after paint - like the originals: Cheers, CR21

Some great work there. Nothing very refined about the original! 😳
Thanks Johnny - indeed it looks like it was made in a bit of a hurry - a brilliant reference though.
