You can get those studs from DSS, a lot cheaper than CMSL : https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/by-part-number/hpart_92700080503B
Morning Athame57, thanks for letting me know, I ordered a couple yesterday from Silvers and even managed to get the old one out with a bit of heat and not too much difficulty. 🙂

Thanks Bryan. I would never of thought of doing it that way. Should I be able to do the job without dismantling the forks. When I put the new one in should I lock tight it in?

Cheers Bryan. I had the hacksaw at it this afternoon but couldn’t get at it. I will try your idea tomorrow.

Thanks for your reply Ken. It gets worse, just tried to get the nut off and it just goes round and round doing nothing! So frustrating!

Afternoon all. Took my front wheel off today but on replacing it one of studs seems to have a stripped thread. Was wondering how difficult it will be to replace and where’s the best place to buy them from. Regards.

Thanks for the tips guys. Do you put anything in particular on the surfaces before putting the new gaskets on or is it just a case of making sure the old stuff is off?

PM me your address, they are a bit thicker to compensate for the non asbestos thicker gasket

I am afraiid at least from my experience, gasket scraper and elbow grease, did use lots of WD, but that did not seem to do much :-(
Indeed I am resigning myself to lots of elbow grease, I read somewhere, can’t remember where, that this person spent 10 hours preparing the surfaces!

Hi all. I have decided to replace the top end gaskets due to a worsening oil leak. I’ve nearly got to the point where I need to remove the base gasket and prepare the surfaces for new gaskets. Was wondering what is the best thing to use? Is it just a gasket scraper and lots of elbow grease?

Thanks for the replies guys. Those bar end mirrors do look nice but a bit out of my price bracket. Probably get the Silvers ones although there some second hand ones on the forum I am enquiring about. Thanks again.
