What do people use to protect an aqua blasted engine? I'm currently using some acf50 which I use on my other bike a vstrom 650 but that's mostly plastic and a painted engine.
I've seen people mention WD40, any penetrating oil and GT85.
What do you use to protect the engine?

I've still got a few things to fettle to get the bike running perfectly but its more than ridable now. I've had my CB400f for just over 5 years, I got the bike in 2019 and what seemed like a good project needing minimal work actually turned out to be a little bit of a lemon. After doing a top end rebuild in 2019 it looked like it wasn't that well looked after, the main chain was stretched, cam chain tensioner was seized and the tensioner bolt had snapped off deep in the crank case. Then covid happened and I was made redundant, and to top it off my dad was diagnosed with cancer during covid. Both delayed me starting the rebuild for quite a while. Unfortunately, my dad passed away in 2023 and he was my main source of help as he had rebuilt countless British bikes when he was younger so I now had to take on the rebuild by myself. But thanks to many people from the forum especially Ted and Julie I managed to do my first engine rebuild. The cost was definitely more than I had expected, mostly the aqua blasting and a local Japanese bike restorer who helped rebuild a few things. I'm definitely not out of questions to ask on the forum but I've been having a blast running it in, totally different to riding my 2007 vstrom 650.

I went for the 2nd break in run yesterday and it was mostly fine, just a clutch adjustment at first but after it was hot when stopped at traffic lights in 1st, and with the clutch in the idle seemed to hang at 2k - 2.5k rpm but when closed that the throttle that extra bit from its natural resting position it then started to fall back to what it should be idling at.
Is there anything I need to check/adjust? Does the throttle linkage at the carbs need to be adjusted so it closes more? It appears to be fully closed because the extra bit I close the throttle just fully slackens the throttle cable.

Nevermind, I had no idea there was a main stand bump stop. I've found some rubber that will work for the time being, I'll also have to refit the collector box and downpipes.

I ordered a new exhaust hanger bracket from DSS as it didn't have one. When fitting it to the brituro OEM style silencer the main stand seems to get in the way. Am I fitting it wrong? The silencer connection for the bracket seems to be too long as seen in the pictures.

So I shaved it down and ended up using a grinder to shave it down further because of the metal wires inside the graphite gasket but it just falls apart once you try to push it on.
It would either fit in the silencer and then not onto the collector box or visa versa.
I might need to make my own gasket out of something. Has anyone used other exhaust gasket materials?

So I shaved down the side and it went on easier. But then it the brituro silencer wouldn't fit on, so I shaved the outside down and it still wont fit on. When applying some pressure the gasket just starts to crump up.
I guess I'll have to find a thinner gasket or a roll or a different material.

Connect to brown wire in headlamp shell BUT look at 7amp tail fuse first
There doesn't seem to be any power coming to the brown wire. It looks like the tail light holder grounds itself. One pin on the bulb holder shows voltage when the brake is pulled and the other doesn't show anything. None of the fuses look blown and I checked the voltage over them but none of them registered much which is odd. Are the 1st and last fuse spares? Then is the order tail light, headlight, main?

Its a UK bike.
The rear brake light operates fine, only comes on when the front or rear brake is applied. Just need to figure out a temporary fix to get the running light on the rear working. Then eventually get a replacement housing.
Laverda Dave, the rear indicators I got have a power and an earth wire, I'll probably just route them to the longer earth wires that connect to the tang.

I replaced the main loom with this one https://www.electrexworld.co.uk/acatalog/WH-377.html a while ago and it all matches up with the diagrams I've used. I think its just an aftermarket rear light that's being iffy. Should the tail light be on when the low beam is on? I think for the time being I'll get the indicators connected so I can finally ride it and add the rear light from DSS to my list. But also in the meantime have a fettle about with the rear light to see if I can add the 3rd missing wire.

Laveradoo, theyre some of the videos I found. Once I go the points triggering when they should it was pretty straight forward to follow the videos.

The previous owner had the wrong rear indicators so I managed to get a nice original pair from 400fourbits. Ive tested them and got them working. Im guessing the ones on the bike were aftermarket because they didn't have the ground wire. How is this ground wire usually routed? Is it under the seat and into the bit with all the connections from the rear?
The tail light assembly might also have been aftermarket or from a slightly different model. The rear indicators were on a rod that goes through the rear light assembly and not on the little storks from the end of the frame.
Is the rear light meant to light up all the time like the low beam in the headlight? Mine doesn't seem to be lighting up, although I cant remember if it did previously... The brake light works fine. There are only 2 wires coming from the rear light, 1 red,1 black. The wiring diagram says there should be 3 so I appear to be missing the green ground.
I've tested the bulb and both filaments work. I have also tested running a ground wire from different points on the light bracket but it still doesn't light up unless the brake is pulled.
Can anyone spread some "light" on my wiring.

I shaved the gasket down with a few razor blade to make it fit.
I was thinking of cutting it in half but then there would be a gap. I didn't even think about shaving about a 1mm from the inside, I shall try that.

I have the same issue with the Brituro silencer, I had to widen the end of it to make the gasket fit in and even then it has deformed the gasket.
Did you manage to get in on properly without it splitting?

Yeah, its definitely the bigger one as it came in a different packaging and part number compared to the 2 smaller ones. I'll try and push it on again. It seemed to be stretching it when I only got it on about 10mm.
