Hi. Been looking hard but found nothing on whether the engine mounts or frame changed on later models i.e. could I take a later/earlier engine from another bike and install it in an '87 frame for example? PS. My CB500 Four K0 is now on ebay with spare frame. Cheers Scott

Excellent response and advice from you all, as usual, thanks! Lots for me to chew over.
Impressed with the finish in the photos, I'll send a pic of the bike when I get my hands on it. Probably this weekend.
Cheers all, Scott

Not sure if this is a Project Board item. Just bought a project, a complete bike with a complete spare 550 engine. I'll probably sell on the 550 engine.
Would appreciate your advice on the best method of cleaning the 500 engine, to obtain the best original finish. My plan is to remove the engine and strip it fully. Is vapour blasting recommended?
Thanks, Scott

Thanks Phil, appreciate it! Any help you can provide with dimensions etc. would b really useful. The left one is corroded and perforated but the shape is whole so I could probably use that as a pattern. Or the import frame I've just bought I could cannibalise it but that's probably not the wisest option. I can always sell it on if I don't use it, really good condition 1972 import for £290 incl. delivery which I thought was good price. Thanks again. Scott

PS. The 500 I bought came with a spare 550 engine. I assume that will bolt in OK? Cheers Scott

There's a comprehensive report on this in MCN I think last week. Seems the claims are exaggerated. I've still got the copy if anyone is interested but it's probably on their website by now. Cheers Scott

Hi there. Apologies in advance if this question has been asked already, I did a search on 'frames' and a lot came back . Anyone know of any frame differences between a UK bike registered 01 Jun 1972 and U.S. frames 1971-176? Thanks, Scott

OK, so I may be better off buying a new, complete frame e.g. a U.S. import. Only downside is that I would have to register it. The bike I have just bought has a V5. Thanks, Scott

Hi all. I own a KTM 790 Duke and have just acquired a CB500 Four 1972 which I want to restore. The rear foot rest brackets have corroded. Any suggestions for alternatives, I'm thinking maybe I can fabricate a couple. Thanks Scott
