Hi All, I’ve misplaced the gearchange adjusting rod so need to make a new one (originals -new - not available).
Can someone kindly give me the measurements please? Total length, thread diameter (6mm? LH & RH thread?) and rod diameter? Many Thanks - Bruce 6

Thanks Ian - wasn’t sure if anyone has a specific part number for the bush/bearing from Honda as I haven’t got it shown or listed. This should last as well as the original though as long as it’s not run low on oil which I suspect happened previously looking at the excess wear on a few bearings etc!

Did a lot of searching for the bush/bearing for the Counter Shaft (low) gear, removed the old one and it’s a Bi-Metal type, couldn’t find anything that matched the size so opted for a split Bronze Bush (see photo), installed, cut down to correct width, cleaned it up and tried - seems a perfect (I hope) fit, runs smoothly with no “wobble†or side to side movement!

Steve @ 400/4 Bits has come back with good pricing but that still leaves me with the Counter Shaft Gear (Low) with a problem - would appreciate if anyone has a link to the bushing if it’s available - there’s a “new†gear on eBay but it doesn’t have the bush in it (assuming they’ve got their part number correct) which suggests a bush might be available!

Apologies for the header query but I’ve a couple of parts required queries.
Just finished the complete rolling Chassis rebuild (minus tank still to be painted) so dragged out all the engine bits that had been squirrelled away for the last 4 years, crankshaft/conrods etc no problem as been collecting expected replacement parts for that area since I bought the bike. Area I hadn’t looked at were the gearbox components - I’ve now got two items that need replacing - gear main shaft (DSS can get but £400 - double ouch & 400/4 bits has a couple but an unknown quote just yet for one). Please, does anyone a reasonable one going spare they’re willing to part with for a reasonable price? Second item is the Counter Shaft Gear (23420-377-000) with a badly worn bush - gear not available but has anyone succesfully re-bushed this or have a decent one not wanted please - again, happy to pay a reasonable price for one? All other parts are available so not worried about bearings/seals replacement etc. Bruce 13
CB350/400 / Re: Finned Exhaust Clamp Quandary« on: October 07, 2024, 09:14:32 AM »
That’s a lot of differing opinions but ALL good info - Thank You. I might try the “rub & buff†route first (I assume that’s the silver version?) as my clamps aren’t too bad!

CB350/400 / Finned Exhaust Clamp Quandary« on: October 03, 2024, 03:24:41 PM »
Sorry - another “bland†query! My 4 exhaust clamps (the finned ones) need re-chroming, I “think†they’re originals (but no way of telling). Had a quote for re-chroming which is almost identical with 4 “new†repro ones from DSS.
Has anyone had the repro ones and how do they compare with “originals Cost of post/pack from DSS is nothing as I’m so local can pick them up - conversely I’m in no rush for mine if I go the re-chrome route. I know the general feeling is originality and I’m trying (where possible) for this but if a new item is identical then to me it’s a “no brainer†- I suppose it comes down to quality of replacement against chrome quality (I’m not after “show†chrome) after rechroming! What’s the thoughts from others please? Bruce 15

Just spent a good couple of hours at DS 400/4 Anniversary today - can only say a big “Thank You†to DS for doing this. Free entry, no problem parking (a car), free museum visit, burgers not extortionate, friendly & informative riders, welcoming & unstressed (surprisingly) sales team, bike jumble fairly priced.
As well as all that I’ve now got an idea of the differences between the early (1975) UK & Canadian/USA models - didn’t know that not only the indicators are different but the “stalks†are shorter & fatter than UK ones plus my personal “bugbear†the serial plate, finally saw another early 75 400 with the longer chassis/serial plate than is offered by ALL the suppliers I’ve contacted!
