CB500/550 / Where to sell
« on: June 10, 2025, 09:13:19 AM »
Hi All,

I'm thinking of selling my cb550 and I'm trying to work out the best place to sell it. There was a time I put it on ebay but I'm not convinced that's much good anymore so just wonder what others experience is?. Sadly moving at the end of the year and can't take both bikes!.

Also any ideas on prices its a US import cb550 74 k0. (its registered with me as the first owner) Its in nice condition not original colour and some modifications but do have most of the original parts. I'll take some pictures if that help?

Just some of the bits its had hard chrome plated forks, stainless steel rims + tyres and Delkevic exhaust

I've measured the stand and its just slightly shorter than the one pictured at 9 1/2". As Oddjob pointed out I think its bent there's quite a curve in it. Not having  one to compare it against I thought it was normal and just the wrong stand.

Thanks for that. They both look like the one I now have so maybe something is out of shape. I'll take another look at it again over the weekend.

CB500/550 / Whats the correct sidestand?
« on: August 05, 2022, 10:38:01 AM »
Hi All,

I have a usa import cb55k0 I’m trying to work out what the correct side stand looks like. When I got the bike it had some crazy length forks(it now has the correct forks) and the wrong sidestand. I picked up I thought was the correct one from ebay but this is too short.

The mount for the stand is at the front of the frame but I can’t find a good picture of one as a reference. I wonder if could post a picture or maybe have a look at what for sale on ebay and let me know which might fit.

Any help is much appreciate

I've just had both front and rear rebuilt by Phil at Motorcycle full circle wheel building in Upton-upon-Severn(google them). I'm more than happy with the results. Price will depend on what you need doing so best just give him a call.

CB500/550 / Re: CB550 Short Cables
« on: June 14, 2022, 09:40:55 AM »
I took the measurements from the outer edge of the elbow to the end of the tread on the other end;

Short cables from 4 to 1 are 31" / 79cm. The cables which came with the bike are 35" / 89cm. The ones that worked for me I haven't measured but looked about 2" 1/2 longer than the shortest so I'd guess 33" 1/2 / 85cm

There's not much difference but its enough to make them fit or not in my experience.

I've been caught out by this as well. I believe the US bikes have longer cables so ordered the full short cable kit from 4 into 1 thinking that would work. I used the clutch and speedo cables but the throttle were to short to use with by "standard" style bars. On full lock you could see the carbs moving so I decided not to use them

If you think they might work with your setup let me know I'm open to a offers on them there new other than being put on the bike.
