IIRC the speedo read about 40mph when running on the fan.

So 20k miles is 500 hours (20 days)

Misc / Open / speedo mileage reset

I did this with the replacement Speedo on my Daytona 900.

I used an electric desk fan. Removed all the gubbins and just left the spindle coming out of the motor. Then connected that to the wheel end of the Speedo cable with a heat shrink rubber sleeve.

Fan motor is slow enough to cause no damage.

It took several weeks to get to 20k miles.

Site Feedback / FAQ / How to... / Display Names on the Forum
« on: October 21, 2025, 11:30:21 AM »
We've had a load of new members this year (about two per week) so now's probably a good time to remind/advise about the names that show on the posts.

When you register you enter a "Username" which cannot be changed.

However, if you get fed up with the typo or stupid name that you entered (or if you change bikes like I did), you can change the "Display Name in your profile. This is what shows on the forum and is automatically set to your username when you register.

Change it in "Profile" / "Account Settings" / "Name"

Steve

Triumph made the Daytona 1000 in the 90s, added a cylinder to the Daytona 750 triple.

I had one in my barn (it was Eamon’s).

Cylinder #1 stuck out on the left hand side.

I’ve seen it at the NMM.

An interesting exercise, but nowhere near production ready.

That’s about 300 words without a breath.

I’m sorry but I gave up after the first few lines.

Do you have anything positive to contribute?

Sorry George. All my fault.

<5 posts requires validation to stop spammers.

I also always forget to change the answer in the database.

Just post once more and you’ll be done with it.
