Apart from the obvious tourisy places London is not the place that I would want to be, we normally go down there on a coach to vist places like the tower., Wembley, museums etc. What always hits us is the poor condition of the houses outside of the posh parts, its as if the price of houses are so high that people just do not maintain them, or more unkindley do not care about them. The streets look very untidy and are ill kept, we lived in Thailand for a long time and one of our friends took his Thai girlfriend to where he used to live in London, we thought that she would be impressed however she was appalled at the dirt and litter and general state of the place. There does also seem to be a lack of planning as you have some suburban streets with giant tower block looming over them, and these seem to be new construction.

My K1 got a 4-1 system because it was supposed to increase performance, the 4 pipes were only refitted when I sold the bike. However it also had something (a lot) to do with the sound, eventually a Dunstall 4-1 was fitted and it sounded glorious, my girlfriend had the kettle on way before I got to the house as she could hear the bike from miles away.

Better news, you sound like you are on the mend, build yourself up slowly for a bit of tinkering in the spring.

I also used Humbrol enamel model paint on my switchgear, Humbrol 21 Gloss black on the switches and Humbrol 19 Gloss red, these come in 14 ml tinlets. I took the switches off the bike and put them on a pair of handle bars and used my airbrush for the Black. Once the black was fully dry a couple of days later the red was painted with a brush, excesss was wiped off with a cotton bud. Note that some people say that the latters should be orange in which case it would be Humbrol 18 Gloss orange.

Not impressed, it looks more like a Kawasaki to me. The modern Z1 looks ever so good to me so why can't Honda do something similar for the CB750.

Hi Ted this all sounds appalling, I hope things are improving for you. I am British and proud of it and our history, when working abroad in the 1990's I used to get really annoyed at my European colleagues refering to the UK as a backward little island off the coast of Europe. However sadly I am tending to the same opinion as the UK slowly slides into being a third world country.

A long time ago (2007) I got my 750F1 black parts powder coated by Elite Engineering and Powder Coating in Liverpool and they did a great job, they even spotted and repaired some corroded parts on the frame as well. Lots of bike restorers used their services as well back then.

I was walking the dog the other day and spotted 3 people clustered around a newish looking bike, it was some kind of small capacity Yamaha. They were having problems getting it started, after further inquiries the bike was being sold by its woman owner to a young girl whose boyfriend had given her a lift. The bike had not been used for a while so the battery was flat so it would not fire up on the starter, this completely baffled them, it would not start using the kickstart they said but they also said that they had never used a kickstarter. So I asked them about bump starting it, blank looks appeared. The woman owner was kicking it over furiously to no effect, I did notice thet she had the throttle fully closed when asked about it she said she did not want to flood it. So I handed the dog over to the lady owner, sat on the bike and gave it a try myself, 2 kicks and away it went so I took it down the street and back. The young girl who had bought the bike then took over, she was fully kitted out in leathers and proper gear, but as she took off she nearly stalled it and wound the throttle open which then saw her weelying down the street. I hope she got home safely, she had about 20 miles to get used to her new steed. Back to dog walking with a slight shake of my head.

I can only echo what others have said, be patient and take it slowly. I tend to treat every day as a bonus after surviving a heart attack 10 years ago and I try to make the most of them.
