Looks like a bracket for the rear brake light switch?

Looks like it except the OE bracket had a reinforcing dimple in the middle of the plate. Goes on the outside of the upper back engine hanger bolt.

Must be the previous owner who substituted a Honda part with this. Can see that the original is not in store, so that might be the reason…

I've seen very similar generic brackets with the oval hole for mounting small diameter LED type indicators.

On the right side? I looked through the manuals and pictures of Honda and Haynes, but can’t seem to find it anywhere.

On a 500 its welded to the frame on 550f its on one of the rh rear plate bolts
