I am having a lot of trouble reconnecting the air filter to air box assembly, is there a simple way or procedure to refit it all together.
any advice would be much appreciated.
thank you in advance.

Do you mean you have trouble reconnecting the airbox itself or do you mean something else? Pics help if you have any.
Either way yeah it can be tricky but I would need more precisions to give you accurate advice.
Cheers!

it is the connection from the air filter to the air box.
hope that is more helpful.

First thing is too keep the air filter box itself loose to give you some 'jiggle' room. Just loosen off the fixing bolts.
The main issue is feeding the large metal trumpet into the rubber sleeve on the plenum chamber. I spray both the metal tube and the rubber with WD40 to provide a bit of lubricant to both surfaces and this helps. It is still difficult though but wriggle the metal tube as you feed it into the rubber sleeve and it will go in. Make sure you have the large metal oval fixing band in place over the rubber sleeve BEFORE you insert the metal tube, it is very difficult to insert the metal band afterwards.
Once everything is in tighten up the air filter housing fixing bolts followed by the screw on the metal band.

Okay yup I see it. What Dave said. Also once the trumpet is fully in you can help the lip of the rubber gasket by pushing it from the inside of the trumpet. Either you can use your hand if it’s not too big or using something long and not sharp. That’s what I usually do and it does make it a lot easier.
