Realising what a good site sohc UK is!
« on: January 20, 2025, 06:13:28 PM »
I've been asking about potential wheel interchangability between the CB400NA, & 250NA  Superdream models,   plus the NB & NC variants.

Whilst I have had some advice it's been sufficiently vague enough to be almost useless, long live this site.

This is a neat 500 restoration in the USA.

IIRC Ted, the NB went to reverse black comstars and the NC went to gold reverse comstars, just like the 900FA, FB and FC did.

I'm pretty sure you are right Ken, do the 250NB black Comstars  wheels fit a 400 NA ?

Misunderstood your post, what sort of camshaft does the CB400N have, it's a single overhead camshaft engine that operates all three valves?
The two Superdream sites added together do not hold a candle to this site, that was the point I was making

GM called their old ohc engines cam in head engines as the camshaft did not operate directly on the valves.

Ok I guess we need to change the wording on this site. I thought both this site and the US site dealt with SOHC 4 cylinder bikes as the header statement says...
It's all good as I wasn't sure if you were kidding or serious?

This is the UK home of all things to do with classic SOHC 4 cylinder Honda motorcycles from the (late) 60s through to the (early) 80s

In my defence there is a section here for sohc singles & twins for those of us short of a few cylinders, nice wording. lol

I know the Superdream is probably considered a poor relation compared to the 400/4.

You may well be right Ken, at the moment the Real SD site seem to be saying that the black reverse Comstars went on the 250NC,
the gold reverse Comstars went on the 400NC.

Ted. As an educated? Guess if the brake shoes are the same the wheels will fit

I've been checking if the rear wheel spacers are the same, I'll look into the brake shoes as well.
As extra confusion the 250's I've seen had single front disc brakes whereas the 400 had twins.
Not sure if you can fit a second disc on a 250 on the same wheel.
Owners seem to say the twin disc brakes on the SD are not great, I see the front caiipers changed in later models.
I'm still learning how to drive the parts book I downloaded, I might do better using the csmnl site.

Hopefully the rear wheel does not need replacing so I can stick with what I have.
