His 400F has a 250 tacho....

Got bored after a while, so never bothered to see the finished article.  Assume it wasn't worth it.

Ha ! I wondered what the tacho was off having a turn and neutral light in it, I changed the dial again later so they are no longer there, never having owned a Honda of any description before the cafe build I am winging it from start to finish, hence joining this site to glean knowledge from those who know about these bikes.

No need to explain your self to me I'm sure my bike is far from accurate.
I wing it too. ;)

As it's a café racer build and not a restoration it doesn't have to be 100% accurate but it's a tad annoying to be told all the effort I have put into it so far "wasn't worth it", I've been on a lot of forums over the years and there have been times when people have slated others work, I just stupidly thought this one wasn't like that but I was obviously wrong.   :-\

Well for what it's worth iv been following your build and I like what iv seen.
I'm not really a fan of cafe racers but I can appreciate the amount of work that has gone into it.

Hear hear... I've enjoyed the rebuilds & am impressed at your range of skills Bodd.... you've inspired me to have a little go @ things I thought were out of my 'area' of expertise (eg polishing....& er, I was right...!)
Keep it up.

As for just what goes through the minds of 'gits' who wantonly destroy property like this - I'm speechless.

Bodd - not saying the build wasn't worth it.  Just that it wasn't worth my time, on a poorish connection, clicking to go through page after page of pictures when all I wanted was to get to the very end and see what it looked like.  I gave up.

Sorry for the confusion.  Hint - next time have links to the separate pages and a 'skip to end' button.

I have put buttons to each page of the project so far, below is a part of a screen capture from the first page. I still don't understand why you had a pop at my builds when the thread is about a guy's vintage collection being torched  ???

Light dawns.  I didn't see the hyperlink because it's incredibly faint.  So I thought your link to the 400F build was what you were beefing about.  And I've seen so many flaming cafe racer builds pictured that one more tends to make me lose the will to live.

Apologies!

Iv'e seen so many 'same old' features of the  'standard' 400/4 recently in all of the classic mags, that they are making me lose the will to live. They ought to be doing features like comparing all of the pattern parts that are available  with Genuine/NOS or features on recovering engine parts. On engine reconditioning , in the last CB I read, they had discovered that the engine they have in the project bike has been fitted with Kawasaki cam bearing shells. I  have never heard of this before and it is an interesting idea, as good used parts will soon dry up (or be in DSS's possession  :D ) so reconditioning will be another option.
The guys on here are as passionate about their cafe builds as the 'bog standard' brigade like myself are on here. Plus they yield spare parts supply for us. A guy I know has cafe'd a GS550 and a CX500,  two sometimes unloved, ugly duckling,  models and transformed them into a thing of great beauty.

Keep it coming Bodd!!

Restoration blogs are a great source of info if you want to learn how to do things. Cafe or otherwise makes little difference in that respect.

Nice stock RD250 anyway...
