Long term renovation
« on: April 27, 2016, 10:17:12 PM »
Hi all,

Only joined last week, briefly my son and I have purchased a CAT C CB550F1 with the view to restoring it.
Not sure of the time frame to completion as it is going to be a project whereby we will do a little at a time when we can. I would like to bring the bike back to its former glory, but I think my son has designs on making it into a café racer style bike, so not sure which way it will go yet!
Initial picture shown below followed by the stage I have stripped the bike down to at this point in time.
Will probably be asking lots of silly questions about cleaning and replacement parts etc so apologies in advance!

Coda, go for it with your son, it'll be great time together. You've got an entire bike, you're in front already.

go for it, I started with this

2 1/2 years later and $4,000, ended up with this
