PD carbs oddity!
« on: June 10, 2016, 10:05:09 AM »
On my K7 the non adjustable slide for balancing purposes is on number three cylinder.  My understanding is that you count the cylinder numbers from right to left sitting on the bike.  Am I correct?  The manual states that the idle screw is between numbers 1&2.

If someone has split the carb bank and reassembled in the wrong order I guess it doesnt make any difference but wondered if anyone had any differing opinion.  It does seem to be a bugger to balance the carbs, even with tappet and timing settings bang on; getting a lot of clutch rattle.

Thanks all.

The fixed slide on PD's is number 2. The idle thumbwheel is between 3&4. Your numbering them the wrong way around. As you sit on the bike No.1 is the left (alternator) side.

Have you got a photo of your carbs, difficult to believe that they could be assembled the wrong way around. And clutch rattle is on all CB750's, sounds like a bag of nails. The dry sump arrangement of the engine has a good bit to do with that.

And most of the clutch rattle disappears when you pull the clutch in anyway!

A Haynes speciality, the manual says you take the headlight switch out of my 944 from the front, luckily it became apparent that was impossible before I broke anything!.

Try rebuilding a Triumph 5 speed box the way Haynes sez and you wont have hair left
