Hi All,
I'm back from holidays and looking at the astronomical prices CB's are now fetching in Southern California! I bet they wished they never sent so many over to the UK in the 90's for bargain basement money!
Project 400 is progressing well although not without some problems especially with pattern parts that don't fit or are not as described
There's been a few threads about replacement ignition coils lately. I bought a set of coils from M&P, measured them and found them to be as ordered at 4-Ohms (some of the aftermarket coils are only 2-Ohms). The coils are made by iP who make a few other electrical parts, I'm not sure if they are Japanese or Chinese manufacture as there was nothing on the box they came in?
I have fitted them but here's a word of warning for anyone using these (and likely other similar coils advertised on e-bay), the distance between the mounting holes in the coils are 12mm too short . This left me with the problem of drilling a new hole through the frame to mount them (err, No!) or modifying what I had to make them fit.
I cut off the plastic from the two sides and end of the laminated core at the ends and made two spacers to allow the existing frame mounting holes and brackets to be used. It took a day to make the brackets as I had to file them by hand from round bar (it was a Sunday!).
Anyway, I will post some more progress photos as soon as I get a chance to download them, progress is good, I installed the wiring loom today
