I would be welding that damage. Once the spring is under the correct tension it may break the rest of the case. While the engine is out i would be investigating why the oil is not getting to the top end. It only takes a little sliver of Honda bond to block the oil ways and the jets. Check that you have all the correct 0'rings in place, as one missing or wrong size 0'ring will effect the oil pressure
I feel your pain. But, from what you have said, the oil has only got from the pump to the filter. That is about 8 inches There is no point solving the kick start when you still have other issues.
