Classic TT 2016

Early morning and off on the annual trip to the Classic TT/MGP. AS I'm not doing the VMCC Parade lap this year I am leaving the classics at home (still a Honda 4 though). Anyone else going?

Roy.....I don't see your Maine Coon Cat on the bike - I thought he'd be perched on the back complete with 'Custom' helmet and goggles - oh and wearing a bandana with a picture of a mouse ! Have a great time and hope the ankle hold up OK. Post some photees please so we can all see what we are missing at the IOM Classics.

Jealous! I raced in the Manx in 1997 on a CBR600 - still a Honda 4 but, like yours, with too many cams for this board. It went like clockwork though, 14 laps with not much more than an oil change, just the rider was pants - I think I have too much imagination to ever be quick on road circuits.

Oddjob, I feel the same about crash bars - I've seen a frame written off in a crash by the bars causing it to bend. The engine was fine, though. When I worked for the Honda race team, the stock RC45 nylon bungs took an incredible amount of abuse as our lads regularly chucked them at the scenery.

Oddjob. It's a full Akra titanium system with a power commander mapped for mid range stomp. It goes like stink, scares the crap out of me. Got to the hotel in Peel and it's actually a very nice day.

Dead jealous, I used to go to the TT and Manx every year and really enjoyed the racing and atmosphere, that's one reason that I have never been back as there used be a gaggle of us going and it would not be the same now.

Don't despair Dennis........why don't you ask if any of the sohc Forum members want to go next year.......there might be others who feel like you, but would jump at the chance of another visit with a group of like minded peeps.

As my Son In Law said recently....there's plenty of time to sleep when your'e dead.

  I haven't been since Barry Sheene raced there,and I saw him slide off at Quarter Bridge,I would be interested for the Manx/Classic TT
 end of august time,
I know its likely to be expensive,and would prefer B&B,

Hi,

I have just returned from an excellent five day break over on the isle, it was my first visit to the Classic TT; it won't be my last.  The bikes are WAY more interesting and varied  than the modern TT bikes, great sounds and smells (Castrol R).

My CB500 Four complete with broken clutch pushrod performed great, the poor thing even got thrashed for the first time in years. There were stacks of CB500RR's in the paddock, they sound sooo good out on the course.

Here is a picture taken at Keppel Gate overlooking Kates Cottage and the Creg in the background.  TAKE MIDGE REPELLENT !!!!

I think it would be a great place for a SOHC.uk meet, I will remind everyone next summer.

Oddly enough I saw lots of CB400s and CB500s and only two CB750s, none of the owners I spoke to were on this site and most hadn't even seen it!

Thanks for the info about Triggers clutch pushrods, I recall reading about them on this site so I'm going to get one.

Here is a picture of a Clutch actuator modification on a race bike.  Most other racers had converted to CB550 clutches incorporating a CB550 clutch case and actuator.

We were there at Quarter Bridge that year and pretty disgusted that he did not attempt to get back on it, if I remember rightly it was Stuart Grahams ex works 125 Suzuki.

John McGuiness just repeated that quaterbridge accident on Friday night in the 250 practice. He was very embarrassed. He didn't get back on it either.

Roy, any chance you can send me a copy of the PC mapping?

Oddjob. I would love to send you the map. Unfortunately it was done by a company called the"carbon can company" about 9 years ago and the company no longer exists. The only copy of the map I have is in the bike. If you can give me instructions on how to get at the map, I will gladly send you a copy. Keep in mind that although I restore classics, on the cb1300 I don't even know where the battery is as I've never touched the thing.
