Ignition Timing Question 500 Four
« on: September 09, 2016, 05:05:07 PM »
I just restrobe checked my timing and to get the timing marks to line up for 1 and 4 I have had to rotate the main plate as far as it will go anti-clockwise.

This seems a bit odd - have I done something stupid somewhere?

Which marks were you using, T or F?
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!

The F mark is for STATIC timing, ie engine NOT running, there are other marks ( little lines) for dynamic timing, you have to check in your manual as to which to use.

on the timing plate you will   "   lines,

if your using Boyer electronic, these should line up at 4,500rpm and over, when you use the strobe,

I would hilight the marks using a dab of Tippex,
