Coil Testing
« on: September 10, 2016, 06:00:54 PM »
Beginning to suspect I have a coil/ht lead issue.

The bike is just not running right and feels flat also tick over is hunting around.

I have new points and condensers, timing is spot on, new plugs, carbs fully rebuilt and balanced spot on so coils/ht is about the only part not replaced/refurbished.

Is there any easy way of testing them before I bite the bullet and replace them? I know you can check the primary and secondary resistances but I seem to remember reading somewhere that there is more to check

Another member Les is sending his coils up to me to 'dynamically test' as in the scary video . feel free to do the same whilst I have got the reg set up for Les.

Every one of my bikes will have the HT leads replaced as detailed in my post (except CD125A that has coil hidden in the pressed steel frame), regardless of how they  test out... it's the Achilles heel of those coils.
