Hi all I'm John, live in Cardiff and have been riding for 37 years. I'm currently riding a 1982 Kawasaki GPZ750 with a ZX9 engine in it. I recently bought a Honda CB400/4 F2, picture below I hope. It came  with some new parts, and some old, but was missing quite a bit. I've since bought clocks, idiot lights and a tank. Having difficulty finding carbs, can you fit other carbs  e.g. 500/4 or 550/4. Haven't decided what style to go with yet cafe, rat, original etc. need carbs first to see if it will even run.
I had one of these back in the 80's and loved it until it was stolen and torched.

Welcome to the forum John, glad to have another 400 owner on board, we probably outnumber all these 750 and 550 guys put together.
If you need a hand with anything give me a shout and I'll come over the mountain.
Where's that 10mm socket got to?

Welcome John, another 400/4!
Carbs come up sometimes on eBay, like this set:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-400-4-carb-set-complete-as-picture-/131951410897?hash=item1eb8eabed1:g:T9YAAOSwmLlX6Q8w
He has another set as well plus some other parts, might be worth a look.
If they need a rebuild this set of parts has been used by a lot of folks on here:

Thanks Chris400f for the ebay listing details for the carbs. Have been checking  everday for over a month and now there are 3 sets. Guess I need to leave  out CB when searching, missed the  2 sets listed yesterday.

Welcome from me also, I'm glad to see another 400/4 being rescued.

It looks like you've got a bit of work with that one. Good Luck.

Peter.

Here here to the 'welcome and good luck' sentiments. Loads of help on here about the tiniest details... and often with missing parts at VERY reasonable prices from people who have shared your pain! Enjoy the (off road) journey.

Cheers, D.

Yes Ash, I'm trying very hard to get the others in to my little stable. As you know there is the full range of SOHC's here in the house (well, almost, no CB350 or CB650) I have my eyes on both the CB500 and the CB750 to ride but him indoors is just too busy to even contemplate getting them on the road for me this year, so..............I have been told to stop being so impatient and wait my turn!!! That's gratitude for you  ::) ::) ::) ::)
