engine breather tube routing
« on: September 29, 2016, 08:42:09 PM »
Hi

I am now putting my CB550k3 back together and I have the air manifold connected to the carbs and the air filter holder connected to that, I then went to connect the engine breather tube (it was disconnected when I got the bike).
Does it fit onto the bottom of the air manifold box or the bottom of the air filter holder?
Also I appear to be missing a tube of some kind that fits to the connector that the engine breather doesn't.

I would appreciate some close up photos if that is possible, the workshop manual isn't very clear.

Many thanks
Dave

When connected be prepared for fouling airfilter elements. Many owners had enough of this soft, moist, brown spot in their airfilter and choose to disconnect the breather tube and have it loose like on earlier models.

I leave mine loose, very counter intuitive to have dirty air into the filter

I agree, why clag up the air filter for the sake of originality?
Where's that 10mm socket got to?

Same here. Leave it off. Mine was disconnected when I got the bike but going for originality I reconnected it. Caused me to have back pressure problems and oil leaks all over when the the oil got hot end under pressure. Disconnected the tube again from the the bottom of the airbox and the leaking stopped.
