400 four kickstart
« on: October 02, 2016, 11:47:39 AM »
Hi all, does anyone know if the 400 four kickstart lever is specific to the 400 or will any other model one fit?
The one on it is beyond repair and they are not a common item.

 The CB350 four will fit.
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!

This is off the 350F ..not quite the same but will fit. 400/4 ones are rare and cost mega money. Just check with them its not off a 350 twin and make offer at least 10% less

Thank you very much for that, I was starting to think £120 was the best I could get one for.

I bought a complete cb350f kickstart from the USA after giving up trying to get one in the UK. The actual lever was 30mm shorter then a 400/4 lever (I compared the 350 lever with my original 77 400/4 lever ) as I was only after the knuckle the length of the lever wasn't an issue but beware if buying from the US, ask the seller to measure the length of the actual lever before you buy.

I bought a kickstart from Germany, from a CB350F that was being broken for parts.
It wasn't exactly the same as the original on my 1977 CB400F but unless you looked closely they were difficult to tell apart.
I don't know if it was the original or not but they were the same length, just a slightly different profile to the arm if I remember rightly.
I had photos of the two but sadly have tidied them up from my PC.
So I'm not sure what the difference is between the two.

I have one i think, was bought for my cb550 (was advertised as a 550 one) but the spline was smaller than the shaft.
if this sounds correct, message me and ill flog it to you cheap as i have no use for it.

Here's a pic of the kickstart from my 400 to show the length if you want to check a prospective purchase.
If you look at photos of a 350F and 400F the kickstart seems to come to about float bowl height on both.
Maybe a 350F owner can confirm the length of the kickstart on that model.
