Carb plate
« on: November 16, 2016, 09:41:32 PM »
I just found something that will put back my CB750 from running even if I do establish oil pressure this weekend, I need a new / secondhand carb plate. The alloy plate that often cracks is fine, but on top is the bar/ quadrant that opens the carbs. One of the forks that go round the carb slide has broken, probably fell off the shelf I n storage, though no ones owning up, but I don't know, anyway it needs replacing and the whole $&@?/ assembly is one part!

Of course it's no longer available, not at Silver or CMS so I need another. However as my carb plate is fine then a broken one would be fine, I only need the carb opening bit. Part number is 16035-300-004, helpfully called plate set, stay.

Can anyone help? , there's one on flea bay I found, but it's in Nebraska, so the usual hassles with shipping, duty etc.

ETA Found a job lot of CB750 carb bits in Towcester that look right, including the bit I need. I can't see any differences, but I need to get the bits from the garage to study the photo, i hope there were no significant variations.

I don't suppose that it is of any help, but I have a complete set of CB350/4 carburettors with all linkages, fittings etc. that I bought in case of need when I was readying my own bike for the road. I do know that some of the internals are missing from the carbs though.

Is there any chance that the part that you are seeking might be the same across the range?

The only picture I can Google of a CB350 plate, the plate looks similar but the shaft looks shorter, I think the carb opening mechanism is different, but thanks.

RGP750, is it a CB750 set? The bit I am after has the fingers that pull open carbs 1 and 2, its fastened to a chrome shaft.

The ebay set in Towcester is http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262596843703 however I don't need the carbs, and the alloy plate looks to be slightly damaged, there's only one picture. However it does't matter as long as the opening part comes off the shaft OK.

If you mean the circled bits here I have one side but can't remember which one. The carbs on it were 064's

The seller in Towcester BTW is the guy who runs DS's museum. Bought a few things from him and always been fine and reasonably priced. He is ex-Honda UK.

On your photo, Ash with the open prongs of the forks facing towards you, it would be the left hand set circled in red.

From what I read on here, in a thread Richard started way back, they are not meant to come apart and can be a sod because they are held on by hardened pins.

I have emailed they guy in Towcester for more info about the set he has, or better photos.

Hi, just back from the garage, and your right, it's wrong. :(

Thanks for looking though. There's still Richard, otherwise we'll see what reply I get from the Towcester guy.

I reckon you could get quite a bit from selling the bits of those Towcester carbs you don't need if the bodies are OK

Hi Dave those carbs were in a job lot of parts I sold to Roger the guy from Towcester, they really are only suitable for spares, I can't remember if the carb plate was damaged or not ? but most of the chrome parts were badly rusted and pitted and one or more of the float posts were broken , cheers Mick.

I wish I'd seen your post earlier Mick, as I now own your old carb bits! What model CB750 are they from?

Broken float posts and rusty choke linkages etc don't matter, I only really need the carb plate and opening forks, they look OK other than a bit of rust, if there are any issues with the backing plate I'll get the pins drilled out if necessary and reuse mine. At the end of the day its that one part with the fork I want, and there aren't any other options available right now.

The rest of the bits will go in an ever growing collection of parts to one day ebay / autojumble.

Can anyone tell me where to get the 8 O rings for the carb T pieces between the carbs, without buying a full carb gasket set?
