Hello from East Lancashire.
« on: November 30, 2016, 06:19:06 PM »
Hi all, my name is Ade from East Lancashire.

Currently finishing off a 1976 400/4. Found the forum after googling where wiring looms run, wish I had found it earlier to be frank.

Bought the bike on the bay of eeeez, my daughter likes old bikes, I don't ride them anymore, so she will keep the bike in use.

Also have a 1980 cb750 z, for future reference.

Don't think I have any pics of the scabby rust bucket when I got it, but will post some pics of where we are now later.

These show the colour better, rather than using camera flash:

Put these super bright led lights on, purely in the hope that people will notice it before pulling out. Not sure if they are staying, only ten mins to take off if I decide to do so.Yes, they are US indicators.

Where am I up to now?  Carbs need rebuilding and balancing, way beyond me i`m afraid, petrol goes in carbs, magic happens and the bike runs. So i`ll take it a man that can. Front brakes have been rebuilt, need fluid and bleeding up. Then off for MOT I think, probably missed summat..... :D

Thanks bud, found some superb stuff on this forum already, wished i`d have found the forum when I stripped and started the rebuild, would have helped me. As it is, I need to revisit some things on the bike with my new found wisdom..... :)

Looks like a good job from the photos.
And if I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don't know.

I dont think the "running" lights in the US indicators are legal in UK

I used to have an old Ford Mustang many years ago, that had dual filament front indicators. At the time, as long as you had white sidelights (mine were in with the headlight) you could have amber as well, but they drew the line at red rear indicators, so we put amber bulbs in the reversing lights ( sorry, back up lamps!) and put the indicator wires to those!
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!
