Newb with cb750, Bonnie Scotland
« on: January 05, 2017, 01:21:27 PM »
Hello all,

Based in Scottish highlands, been a bike owner most of my life, inbetween stages of family life and too many points. Any how's have cb750 k7 or k8, it's a 77 year and uk bike.

Owned for about 18 months, but only working on it for the last 10 months or so. It's was a complete bike when brought but in non-running engine and in standard detail, been slightly refurbished in its life time and change of colour somewhere but rattle can job and touch up on frame. Will post pictures if I can in its current stage and provide more details when time occurs. Tried attaching pic but won't let me from iPad. It's inbetween brat/cafe and bobber like style, engine completely striped and new parts where needed and up grades of valves, guides, ported, seals, bearings and crank reground and bearings., frame chopped and hoop welded in, seat made, drop bars, new loom which is being fitted now, c5 ignition, tank sanded to metal and clear coated. Lots done.
Thanks
Mag1

Posting pictures from an iPad is easier (possible) using the TapaTalk App.

Sounds good. Looking forward to seeing pics.

Thanks, Will try using from iMac, tomorrow. Had my mate round today to start mapping out the new loom, it's custom made for slimness and update electrics, but I am also adding in separate starter switch, either push button or toggle type. It just takes time between family stuff and work commitments, hope to have a runner by end of Jan or mid Feb, hopefully.

I chopped for the reason I wanted it to be my own special, love the sound of these bikes when I was growing up, nothing like it sounds the same to me. Loud and brash shorty cone will be fitted soon once all the small jobs have been done and carbs synced. Can't wait.

Whereabouts are you? I'm near Lochgilphead. Sounds an interesting project, always made a little bit more difficult by being so far from powdercoating, chroming, wheel building! Looking forward to seeing photos, Tapatalk is way to go!

here are a few when i was mocking up the rear end and some recent ones. the tank came out really good, i love the small dents shows that it has depth. will need to redo tank as its started to pit a wee bit, but thats nice also.

a few pics of when i painted the engine and installed into frame, went in easy and nice puzzle but once the frame was over the engine is slipped in no problem and did it all my self also which was really great!. will update more once i have downloaded more pics and more info of what i have done to date.
thanks. oh i am based near Tain, about an hour north of Inverness. have not seen any other old Hondas in the area. i have also a Yamaha XS750 which is imported from USA, its in nice condition and will be just refurbished once this baby is done.
