Assembly Grease
« on: February 04, 2017, 09:52:18 AM »
Hi All. Can anyone recommend a make and suppliers of a suitable engine assembly grease for things like crank and cam bearings? I used to have a tube of red grease given to me years ago by my local Honda dealer. It was in a plain white tube with no branding. It's all been used now so I'm looking for something else, any ideas?

Ive used Graphogen for years, should find a supply easily to suit you with a quick search.

Thanks K2-K6. I have just ordered a large tube from the manufacturer.  Thanks for the tip.

I feel that one of the significant advantages of Graphogen is that it stays the same even if the engine is built and not run for a considerable time. The graphite in it will prevent pickup and scuffing as it's not reliant on oil film to avoid damage to surfaces.

Hmm, I think I'll coat everything with it so I don't have to bother with oil.
Where's that 10mm socket got to?

I had an interesting phone call yesterday with the chap who owns Graphogen. He told me how radial engine makers used only Graphogen to coat the engine and test it before packing and sending to the end user. No oil used during testing. If it's good enough for an aero engine it speakers volumes for how good it is.

Hi Mike I just took your advice on that, took all the oil out of my new Ducati to save weight and replaced it with a dob of the above, anyway it's seized up and it's your fault, please buy me a new bike 😄

Thought everyone knew that Ducati only run on olive oil in the winter and Lardo (pronounced with italien accent)  for hotter weather. ;)

Sorry about that, I thought it would be a good idea.   Let me know what model you require and I'll get one delivered by Friday.
