Re-plating hardware

Morning all,

What's the general consensus on re-plating hardware ?  I've got a few weeks wait for Philpotts to rechrome the stantions and for the delivery of new wheel rims, so I have started to think about making good the various nuts and bolts.

Is it a good idea to zinc the axles and s/arm pivot bolt ?   I'm expecting to get the engine bolts and most of the various bolts for the frame re-plated and a brief search on here suggests sending to Allenchrome as a good start ?

i asked the same question to martin_uk and he got his done with mercury electroplating. have a look at page 5 on the projects thread and you will find martins CB750K8 restoration. worth trawling through all 14 pages for inspiration!
