Where did this Sebring Ignition come from?
« on: March 09, 2017, 09:48:37 PM »
Hi all,

I've posted this on the American SOHC, but wondered if anyone here had come across one of these.

My bike died the other weekend whilst out, and once back at the garage it was diagnosed with no spark and traced back to the electronic ignition.

The unit has Sebring written on it, but I cannot find any info about it. Google has failed me!

My question is, does anyone know where it came from (apart from Sebring!) and where can I get some information on it?

The unit has been replaced, but I'd like to solve the mystery. I've attached some pics.

Cheers, Alan

I just found several items about it on google, including a PDF of the instructions, google. Sebring electronics corporation, my phone won't let me post it without a Tapatalk account, which I don't want!

Found this which appears to be prior to your system but related with magnetic pickups etc, maybe give some sort of lead.

Same company, wrong model/type. I found that one as well.

I just can't seem to find the one in the picture. Odd.

According to the "investigate California " website, the electronics division of Sebring last filed a tax return in 1983, so chances are that part of the company went bust or was sold on. Looks like the u.s. forum is the most likely place to find someone who remembers or can give you more info. Best plan is put it back to points ignition, much less hassle!

Good investigative work Hairy.

It's been replaced with a Boyston unit now.
