Head Skimming

Hi All,
         What is the maximum that can be skimmed off a CB400/4 cylinder head ? Just been told by the engineering company that they've removed 10 thou, which to me seems an extreme amount!!
    Can you purchase a thicker head gasket to compensate if needed?

Any feedback would be grateful

10 thou is only a quarter of a mm and at least you have adjustable tappets.
