Cb550 steering lock
« on: March 21, 2017, 05:40:39 PM »
Hi
Can anybody tell me how the steering lock works that mounts on the side of the headstock.
I have bought a new lock which has slotted in ok and I have the spring behind it .
Do I need to push in and turn some way to get it to lock???
Thanks

Yes, turn the key slightly clockwise, push on the end of the key so the barrel moves inwards, then return the key to it's original position to lock the barrel in the depressed position. Your steering should now be locked.
If it's got tits or wheels, it's hassle, if it's got both, RUN!!!

One other thing, when unlocking, ALWAYS remove the key before straightening the handlebars, otherwise the fork leg can bend or snap the key off on the lock, which is a right pain to sort!

Assuming it's the same as other models handlebars should be turned to the right in order to lock.
