Honda CB550 K0 Motad exhaust fitment.

Hi all, A few months ago I bought a Motad 4 into 1 system for my 1974 US spec CB550 K0. I have just got around to fitting it and have hit a problem with the silencer bracket which does not fit properly. I think the one I need should be stamped M5H, the one I have is stamped M55H. Can anyone on here confirm this please? To make matters worse I believe Motad have gone into administration recently so I cannot speak to them. If I do need an M5H and anyone has one they could sell me that would be great! Thanks in advance, Michael.

Can't confirm the numbers, but the same bracket was supplied for my 500 and 550, but the mounting position on the later frames is about 30mm different and although the lower holes are slotted I gave up with the Motad bracket on my 550 and modified an existing hanger. And on the 500 it fitted badly and the stop for the centre stand was too weak and quickly bent beyond the 90 degrees and needed reinforcing.

Hi, Thanks for your reply, the bracket shown in the link  is, I think, the one I need. Looks like this was covered some time ago. Apparently you are supposed to specify what model it is for to get the right bracket. I have only just found out. Not sure is DSS are aware.
The pic shows the two different brackets. But the angle is not braced and bent on mine very quickly as the stand hit it.

Your bike is a 550K0, not sold in UK, and has the frame as per the 500 and not the later 550 type, so yes you are looking for a M5H.

Hi, I did tell them the model but as it was a US spec they were not 100% sure. I will give David Silver a ring and see if they can help. If not I can make a template and get one made up. Thanks again for your reply.
