Looks like a very late CB550 K3. But engine no is for a 550 K4..

Check out www.sohc4.net/cb550-model-guide

Duh sorry - I misread your initial post.

I seem to remember some discussion around european market cb500 K3/4's...so your bike may well be correct. The VIN plate looks totally genuine and original.

It's a CB500K3. Around 4200 were ever assembled and found their way mainly into Scandinavia. For identification by number, you can try at p.4 of http://www.honda4fun.com/pdf_parts_list/pdf_spac500-550/CB500-550_K3-K4.pdf Good luck.

Excellent- so what you have is rarer than a CB750 Sandcast. !!!!

It looks like Honda had still some 500 engines on the shelf and/or that these Scandinavian countries had legislation (think: drivers license and/or insurance) that drew a line between 500cc and motors over 500cc.
Maybe the CB500K2 (ED, F, G) marketed on the European continent in 1976 was a similar story, as this model shared many things with the CB550K2 that was marketed in the US the same year.

I had the feeling there's been a typo (one of the very few) here and that forsaid list was not correct. That's why I wrote 'you can try' and 'Good luck'. So, tripEA675, just to make sure, your framenumber really begins with 1... ?

Everything on these 500K3's is identical to 550K3except bore size and carb jetting, they are physically the same in every other way, no earlier type motors in them, i am still looking for my old K3 500, rgn114p if anyone knows where it is.
