Push or pull throttle cable
« on: May 18, 2017, 01:52:01 PM »
Hi again everyone like I said the problems are starting the throttle appears to be the push and pull type but it only has one cable which has a very small bit of movement all the way to the carbs the cable is connected to the front of the throttle and I would imagine it is the pull cable ? would only having the one cable cause the throttle to appear locked? the cable that is connected goes to the back of the carbs and the other connects further forward so which one should I order is mine push or pull thanks Chris

At the handlebar end, is it in the front or rear hole of the twistgrip?

Right, what you have is on the parts list as cable A, which SHOULD be connected to the upper quadrant at the carbs, often referred to as the PULL cable, so you need cable B, often referred to as the PUSH cable. Make sure when ordering that you state U.K. model or U.S. as the u.s. model has longer cables due to the higher bars! ;D

Ah, just had a look at your bike pic, those handlebars are obscene :o! Due to the bars, you may well need a custom made cable, Green 1 (Mick) can probably give you the details of where he had some made recently, they were reasonably priced, so I would buy BOTH cables from them, because sod's law says a few days after fitting the push cable, the pull cable will break, then you're off the road while another is made!
