Airbox Snorkel Spring Thingy
« on: May 24, 2017, 03:48:55 PM »
No idea what the technical term is, but my continuous springy thing that helps to retain the snorkel on the dirty side of the airbox is no longer continuous !!

Any idea where I might find one as they appear nla from usual places, and I'm not too sure what to google for (continuous springy thing didn't seem to find anything suitable !!)

The endless spring thingy is called a "Garter Spring" and are used in industry to provide tension/pressure on the seal faces of large bearing oil seal. they come in lengths and a smaller short spring is used as a fastener to make it endless.

Or use one or two narrow cable ties!

Thanks gents for the education and for doing a better job than me searching on the DSS site !  Not sure I can justify £7 for a spring though.

I'm getting an increasingly long list of bits and pieces required for my build - quite freighting how quickly it all adds up, and it's interesting to see how the price for parts I bought for a prior rebuild only a couple of years ago have risen significantly.
