Fork seals leaking

Hi I'm having problems with one of my fork seals leaking I've replaced it two times now last seal was a Honda one still won't seal any ideas . When I shine a light down the fork stanchon there looks to be a groove on the in side is this normal . Cheers

The top of the forks must be either grooved from previous owners removing seals with screwdrivers etc. Or your stanchions must be worn, measure the diameters of each. Don't know if there are tolerance in the manual

I used to see lots of fork sliders damaged by idiots with big screwdrivers, if that's the problem you can carefully dress off sharp edges on the groove(s) with a file then fill the groove with silicone before inserting a(nother) new seal. it works 95% of the time

I had this problem once.
Turned out I'd fitted the seal upside down.

Sticks Like Sh*t is way better than silicon.  I use it all the time at work.  Available from Screwfix.

There are a lot of marks were people have had screw drivers in so your saying to put sealer round the fork leg before putting seal in .

Yup.  Normally there's a nice smooth aluminium surface for the rubber to seal against.  If it's been butchered then it won't seal and will need a small amount of squirty stuff. 
Apply the sealant to the seal, not the fork slider, otherwise the excess will be pushed in rather than pushed out.

I'd file/sand down the high points and fill the gouges with JB Weld or similar, let it fully cure, then fit the seals without sealant.
Sealant is fine if you know a product well enough to be certain that it will be weak enough for easy seal removal next time, that it will be oil resistant for years, and that it wont corrode the slider.
