K0 or not K0 that is the question
« on: August 25, 2017, 05:03:01 PM »
I keep seeing references to K0 crankcase shapes as being square and got me wondering

My bike was made Oct '71 and both engine and frame numbers start with a 1

but I am not sure what a "square" case looks like

Is mine a K0, here's a pic. By the way never noticed the bent fin before opinions on trying to bend it back or leave it !!!

If you think there's light at the end of the tunnel it's usually another train !!

Thanks James still confused.........

Given my manuf date of Oct 71 and both engine number and frame numbers starting 1 is it still a K0 then?

If so are earlier K0s with square case more valuable then?

Still a K0 paul. Tell tale signs are the key operated seat latch with finger pull mechanism, straight clock outlets, smaller case clocks, no handbook holder on underside of seat, shallower grab rail, smaller fork ear reflectors and other minor differences.

Earlier examples are generally more valuable as a rule of thumb - all depends on condition, provenance etc...
