Carb Question
« on: October 29, 2017, 09:27:04 AM »
Having just taken apart and cleaned a set of carbs here I wanted to ask a few questions

The throttle valve itself, should there be any play at all in the needle at the bottom that goes into the float chamber as 2 of the 4 carbs all had some play.

Also the mechanism that holds it all together inside is a little gunked up as well and I’m keen to clean it all up but the two miniscule pan screws that are in there look like they’d be right pigs to get free.  Am I asking for trouble to attempt it?

It also looks from the K1 microfiche that the individual parts for the carbs aren’t available either, they’re just listed as rod set, chamber set, tube set, etc.  Do you have to buy them in a set?

The bike is a K0/K1 hybrid but the carbs could be from any year as the basket case I bought was just a pile of parts more than anything else.  Going by the schematics on the CMSL website they look to be from either a KO/K1 or possibly later K2 model (checked the K3 images and they look pretty similar - I have no idea on what the differences are across these years).

As for carb number, do you mean out of the bank of four, if so then is was carb 2 and 3 that seemed to have play

As previous answers, each carb has a stamped number. Top section of each carb (engine side) will be stamped '657A' early version K0'K1 possible K2 and later version stamped '657B' K3 onward

Spot the noob eh?!?

I have two sets of carbs here and neither of them have those numbers stamped on them.  I have a set with 086A on them and a set with 064A.  I believe the 086A are carbs that were used 69-76 but have no idea on the others...anyone?  Perhaps a later CB750F carb?
