gold wing - yes or no?

i've been offered a very shabby non-runner goldwing but i'm thinking it looks rather more complicated to what i'm used to. are they complicated and expensive to rebuild? all my money is going towards my two 750-4s at the mo so i cant spend a great deal. it would be more of a winter hack/runabout and definitely not restored/standard. should i or shouldnt i?

Hold off and invest in a decent condition first-year (75) GL1000 . They’re great, under-valued, appreciating bikes. But wait for a decent one to come along.

Depends why it don't run, carbs can be a nightmare and if there are engine problems its not a money pit, its a money reservoir. I have broken an executive GL1000 and have some bits about so ask if you want

oddjob, you should try riding my DN-01. you have to plan corners in advance!!  i wasnt looking for a wing, it just came up. but it would be better to find a runner at least. my plan was (as i find it painful to ride a normal bike) to butcher it into a sort of pseudo vintage look thing with a sprung saddle and a hand change on the tank etc. i might hold off until he's desperate and go in with a stupid offer otherwise i'll leave it. thanks for the input so far.

Word of warning, a proper carb rebuild job on these takes me ~10 hours work minimum (using a Randaaks kit). Fun to do, but a lot of work...
