« on: November 09, 2017, 07:28:01 AM »
well im blown away...
i was trying to find an address that i have visited for work and i knew i had used my phones sat nav...
so while looking through my phone maps app i went onto "my timelime" hoping to find the post code..
it lists all the places times routes i have taken for yonks..
i kinda liked that very usefull unless you are doing somthing you shouldnt be doing..
but what amazed me it was correct saying i was
walking
driving
motorcycling
i can see how it can tell between walking and driving but motorcycling and driving..
i was out last night just to use a bike ...i never overtook sat in traffic didnt filter and sat behind every car...but it was correct saying motorcycling...
cannot be acceleration  although it was the blade. it was also correct for the xt500 amd 500/4
is it movement sensors in the phone
bloody clever what ever
if you want to check it out im on android

More worrying is that "they" can tell what we're doing, the technology is clearly out there in use.

but as i cannot remember where i was yesterday let alone a week ago being a self employed sparks .with far to much on..i actually find it quite handy so i can work out where and when i was somewhere...
and as im not up to anything that shady it is more use than nuisance..
just amazed it knows the difference in car and bike...

You'd have a guess at different acceleration rates to separate them I suppose.

Don't know how you'd test that though,  maybe take it on a roller-coaster to see what it said. It'd know the location though, so probably have that in it's library of criteria it's comparing you with ;D

im not sold on accelaration....i was thinking maybe the tilt sensors in the phone as that is the only difference in movement...
i was following traffic last night and didnt do any extreme speeds...just a slow old 20 min plod
odd to it seemed to know when i was on the beamish in the back garden too...but i may try that again tonight too...

S'pose you could get some serious lean angle on the Beamish  :)

Get someone to lean it in the car and see if you can convince it that it's on a bike.

There's all sort of things happen with them that's not obvious.

There was a case where someone had an alibi when his partner was attacked which police believed as it seemed to check out,  then they got someone to look at his satnav. He'd not used it to direct himself but used his car to park in a layby 3miles from crime scene but the journey was available for interrogation. From there they took his phone positioning which showed he'd hiked the rest of journey,  then with time and route found him on cctv. Busted!
Also that one a fee years ago when a girl went off with an American male,  ended up in Germany. His phone had gone flat so they lost the trace of journey but when he plugged it in to charge it they could see it on the network so turned it on remotely and used it to listen in.

And when you use phone for emergency number,  it'll push the signal through any network available if you're not currently getting a signal with your provider.

They know where you are  :o
