Odd. It sold at 135 and then suddenly went up to £140,000.
I guess you’d have to be there.

Some arguing the toss, but a new bid came in as the hammer went down.

The Sandcastonly forum experts are fairly certain that a pair of carbs I have are the originals from that bike (it was fitted with standard carbs in '69 by Honda UK to improve the running). My mate was bidding at the auction (he also has the original master cylinder and rigid hose that were removed when Lord Denbigh had flat UK style bars and std master cyl. fitted). I told him if he wins he can have the carbs for nowt with my blessing. I can't believe he paid £140k though, so it's probably some high roller investor ... so where do I go from here?

I agree James  that was silly money for a bike with quite a few key parts missing compared with the blue one. Chris told me that Dave meticulously restored the engine though, refitting parts that were within their service limit and it still has the billet crank etc.

BTW we were both wrong about the workshop shots of it ..not DS and not RogerE  workshops ;)

Ash - you should drop Roger Etcell an email and see if you can get the contact details for the winning bidder. I’m sure they would love to buy the carbs.

No Rush ..still got a really, really  faint lead on the other pair ! Just wish Chris had won it he was Dave's friend for the past 30 years.
