They may have purposely done the shoot in the rain, due to the reflection of available light and not wanting to use a flash, film cameras often show flash photos of shiny chrome parts as "flaring" which ruins the shot. If you look at 70's or 80's T.V. movies, you will notice that the roads are often wet, sprayed by the film makers for the same reason. As film speeds/sensitivity became better, with higher speeds it became less necessary, and with digital filming/photography and computer re touching it was no longer needed.
