Hello there,

How is the situation overthere, concerning waterfloods and so on. Am a bit worried from what I've seen on the TV. Hope it will be over very soon.
Am thinking about you all!

I'm in Wokingham, which is in the Thames Valley.
We had 3 inches of rain on Friday, which is about 2 months worth normally. The roads flash flooded to about 12" deep where I live, but anyone in a hollow was in trouble. It was 6 feet deep under the motorway bridge up the road.

The storm headed off North West and they got it even worse than us. Gloucester had nearly 5" of rain in 4 hours.

Once the sun had come out and the roads drained away, it was like a normal summer's day and has been since.

The problem is that the huge mass of water is flowing down the major rivers which are swollen at every tributary. It takes about 3 days to reach Reading, which is the nearest town on the Thames. They expect the levels to peak tomorrow morning.

Hey Steve,

My heart goes out to all of you in the area's that have been hit by the floods. Really hope that all of this is coming to an end, and that you can pick up your normal life, if that is possible after such a impact.

I think most of us will know someone who has been affected, I live on an ex-RAF base, and my street is fine, but 30 yds round the corner people have had water up to the house due to the drains not coping, my brother in Lincoln had his garage flooded out, luckily is Gpz600 was in my shed, (same problem that James May had, but we managed), a mate in Cleethorpes lost a garage full of furniture he was storing.

Best wishes to all who are affected, especially those who are without water and electricity.

  The weather here in the UK has been bad for the last 7 to 8 weeks in
     some parts continual rain every single day!We had the floods 2 weeks ago
     this effected our front garden & worst of all my garage/workshop at the
     back of our house the garage was under 2ft of water Mmmmmm grim!
     I managed to move my various bikes to my parents house but heavy
     none movable stuff tools, filing cabinets "full of tools ect" compressor,
     took the worst of the water damage Hopefully that should be it for us
     looking at at the TV the people down south have had it far worse than us
     no water ,power ect houses totally flooded our thoughts go out to you
     keep your chins up regards Asimo

Luckily no floods in this part of the UK (North West) so far ! But the rain has been terrible, and every time we have heavy rain my garage floods, only a couple of inches but once it is in it's difficult to shift as the garage floor slopes down at the bench end which is the same level as the garden behind it. Got really fed up with this so this week I installed a rain water channel that I bought from eBay, hopefully it will work !
