But, ultimately, I'm still a bit thick. Let us move to my garage, where the Honda 500-Four has been needing some new clutch plates. In order to get at the clutch cover, I had to remove one of its exhaust pipes. You needn't worry too much about the details of that particular job, so we'll fast forward to the point near the end of the operation where everything is mended and I have only to reaffix the pipe.

At the engine end, it is secured by two nuts on short threaded studs protruding from the cylinder head. I lined everything up, screwed the nuts on to finger-tightness, then took out the big socket wrench to give them a good tighten.

I gave one a couple of turns, and then the other. A bit at a time. Make sure it's evenly seated. Now just a final "nip up" and

You would have thought he would have been bright enough to pop onto the forum and ask, I'm please he didn't ask Clarkson, he would have blown it up or something.
