Non Standard Mirrors

Have owned my 400f for many years now, it's original but not concours. Now that I'm retired I prefer riding it when wife & weather permits!!   Whilst I like originality I'm also a realist, and with todays traffic, mirror use is of prime importance, and the standard fare leaves a lot to be desired. Many years ago I blagged a ride on a pal's bike that had Stadium bar-end mirrors fitted, and I thought at the time they were superb. It now transpires that these are still available under the Halcyon name. Not cheap, but British made from Stainless steel. Just wondering if anybody has tried these, and wondering how out of place they would look on a 70's 400f?

Haven't tried them but as you say, they are a period mod so don't really look that out of place.

Quite a few specials with fairings of the time had them as a practical means to fitting rear view mirrors.  Didn't the Dunstall stuff all come with them.

Presumably you've got to get holes in the handgrips, could be worth using replacement grips to keep the originals in tact so if you want to revert to std you have them.

Although not the same pattern as 70's stuff, the early CB 900 used bar end weights so the original Honda grips from that era would allow you to fit the mirrors.

I'd have thought the round mirror type would look ok currently,  unless you hanker after the trapezoidal type particularly.

I use them on a BSA i have , they work fine and round ones are available,
yes you will need to cut the ends off of the grips though .

I use them on my Moroni Sport with clip-ons. They work fine and are of very good quality.
Are you aware that Halfords stock Oxford handlebar mirrors that fit the Honda thread? I bought a couple for the 250RS, good quality (although the mirror back is plastic), fully adjustable and provide a wide view. Best news is they are only £10 each (or were 6 months ago).
