Chain and sprockets - worth changing the gearing?

Whats the general consensus on changing the 18/48T gearing for a little more low end if i'm not going to be spending a lot of time on motorways?

Just looking at getting sprockets and chain so thought it was at least worth asking the question

Thinking about dropping down to a 17T up front as Honda seemed to go this way for the Later models anyway. Would it be a 100 or 102 link chain I need? I know I can cut to length but will save me a job if I order the right size from here:

Chain for an F1 is 102 links with 17/48 f/r sprockets, but I cant be sure K&F swingarms are same length or not.

Be careful on the K's. A small sprocket up front can put a hole in your crank case, due to back lash. Some 0 ring and x ring chains are too wide

not heard about that before but ill look into it. The DID VX chain is sold by wemoto as part of a sprocket/chain set for the CB750K so presumably its the right width.

If i stayed at the standard 18/48T gearing, do you know what the standard number of links would be? 100 link?

Seen a chain and sprocket set from a company called SNELL. Cant find a single scrap of info on them but the rear sprocket is anodised black which i like. Id feel more comfortable getting something from JT sprockets rather than an unknown but if anyones used them then please chip in

Nice one. Will probably stick with standard gearing for now, can always have a play around at a later date.

Think im going to avoid the 'SNELL' sprockets I linked above as there isnt any info about them available

Gearing is always a thought and I can understand why you would look at that, for me 1st is always a little tall on pull away but then I think the gearing at classic!!! bike speeds I do is perfect

Yeah im goings to stick with stock gearing for now and see how i get on. You can get a JT 17T sprocket for like £13 from ebay so after a few weeks of riding i want to try it its not going to be a problem
