I stayed at a B&B before the run,got a good evening meal and breakfast, and if booked early enough,I would suggest a stay over after the run, let me know if you need more details
I like stuff like this and could be interested in going. However I do have a few questions to see if I get what they are doing. You ride a route, similar to a treasure hunt in that they give you clues? Can you give an example? As you go along the route you observe what you can see? When you get to a manned checkpoint you are asked questions? presumably on what you have observed, like what was the name of the dam you passed? How do the unmanned checkpoints work?I presume you have done this rally and know how it works John?
I myself am not so much interested in the challenge as I am the opportunity to ride in a foreign country PeterSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I sort of get it now John. You plan your route according to the medal colour your going for. You do this well in advance of actually getting there. Seems ok.The questions you get at the start, so before you report to the checkpoints you make sure you have the answers to the questions, means travelling round a bit looking for stuff, so sort of like a treasure hunt, how's that work at the unmanned points, you drop the answers in a box? I presume you must also register at the unmanned points to prove you actually went there?Kinda liking the concept.
Still don't understand the concept of unmanned checkpoints John, what's there function, if no one is there how does anyone know you've been there, are there rubber stamps at these points which you need to stamp your ride card with.Loving the idea but don't want to do the thing if I'm going off half cocked so to speak, BTW what colour medal did you go for on your first one and did you get it?
Be honest John, how did you do at your first one, did you find it easy enough or hard or just challenging and good fun.Really fancy doing this, I like a good mental challenge and I can take the wife and get us both involved.
Aberdare, Carmarthan and Fairbourne, damn that's a good run out, Aberdare is South Wales, Carmartan coming around to the coast and Fairbourne is just below Barmouth. At least Newtown was on the way back
That's better as I know all those towns, wife lived in Abergele for a while. Gather you didn't do last years Rally as I can't find your name on the results.
