The carbs are 087A ,so would that make any difference as Deltarider says they are K2 will the adjustment be the same .

Why the K2 got a different carb number - 087A instead of 022A - is still a mystery to be solved. Studying the various CB500/550 parts list some years ago and this one in particular: page C10 in http://www.honda4fun.com/pdf_parts_list/pdf_spac550/CB550-K0-K1-K2/CB550-K0-K1-K2_04.pdf, I detected one difference that would explain the new carb number: in stead of airscrew pn 16016-323-004 that we know of the CB550 and CB550K1, the parts list mentions for the CB550K2 an airscrew pn 16016-390-004. Ha, that must be it! I thought. BTW, it's the airscrew with a solid tip and not cross drilled that we know of the CB550F models. But... sofar not one owner of 087A carbs has reported, when asked, that he indeed had that airscrew. They all had the old airscrew, with open tip and crossdrilled. Strange. Anyway, since then I have made it a habbit to ask every owner of 087A carbs what type airscrew he has and that now includes you. Please unscrew, after noting what position the airscrew is set at ofcourse, what type of airscrew you have. Mind the little spring! In the pics below airscrew 16016-323-004 and 16016-390-004.

Pretty sure Gerben supplied the carbs with 100 main jets and 40 pilot jets which are correct for this model. But by all means pull them and check..

Where would we be without James eh?

Single-handedly keeping a flow of interesting new projects whilst lowering the average age of the membership by 20 years!

We would otherwise just be a group of old blokes endlessly discussing the minutiae of old bikes (like some forums that I frequent )

I’ll take that as a compliment Steve. I’m slowly bumping up the average age as each year passes..

Cheers James if all else fails then i will have too but if they are anything like the 400 i would rather not pull them , i may just be rushing it as although plugs are sooty until i can get it registered and take it for a ride to blast it out  as that is what it may need , so i may just wait and see.  Here is a pic Delta of screw.

Thank you. So far I have not heard of anyone that has/had the other airscrew (16012-390-004) in his 087A carbs as page C10 in the parts list clearly specifies. Strange. Another reason to give the 087A carb - that is further identical with the 022A carb - its number could be that the needle was hung in a different position. Actually that's the only thing I can think of, but I'm not sure if that in itself would be enough for a different number. So... still a mystery.
Man, that is a lovely bike.
