+1 for what Bryanj said, I have never worked on anything more frustrating than that little circlip!
What I have on my handlebar is the aftermarket one from DS, it is fine, the whole unit goes straight on and it is cheaper than replacing the just the piston kit for the original that you have to tinker about fitting.
Seal kits are OK but stripping the master without correct circlip pliers is just about impossible
